Jeremiah 2 (New International Version)

Israel Forsakes God
1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2 "Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem:
" 'I remember the devotion of your youth,
how as a bride you loved me
and followed me through the desert,
through a land not sown.

3 Israel was holy to the LORD,
the firstfruits of his harvest;
all who devoured her were held guilty,
and disaster overtook them,' "

4 Hear the word of the LORD, O house of Jacob,
all you clans of the house of Israel.

5 This is what the LORD says:
"What fault did your fathers find in me,
that they strayed so far from me?
They followed worthless idols
and became worthless themselves.

6 They did not ask, 'Where is the LORD,
who brought us up out of Egypt
and led us through the barren wilderness,
through a land of deserts and rifts,
a land of drought and darkness, [a]
a land where no one travels and no one lives?'

7 I brought you into a fertile land
to eat its fruit and rich produce.
But you came and defiled my land
and made my inheritance detestable.

8 The priests did not ask,
'Where is the LORD ?'
Those who deal with the law did not know me;
the leaders rebelled against me.
The prophets prophesied by Baal,
following worthless idols.

9 "Therefore I bring charges against you again,"
declares the LORD.
"And I will bring charges against your children's children.

10 Cross over to the coasts of Kittim [b] and look,
send to Kedar [c] and observe closely;
see if there has ever been anything like this:

11 Has a nation ever changed its gods?
(Yet they are not gods at all.)
But my people have exchanged their [d] Glory
for worthless idols.

12 Be appalled at this, O heavens,
and shudder with great horror,"
declares the LORD.

13 "My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
the spring of living water,
and have dug their own cisterns,
broken cisterns that cannot hold water.

14 Is Israel a servant, a slave by birth?
Why then has he become plunder?

15 Lions have roared;
they have growled at him.
They have laid waste his land;
his towns are burned and deserted.

16 Also, the men of Memphis [e] and Tahpanhes
have shaved the crown of your head. [f]

17 Have you not brought this on yourselves
by forsaking the LORD your God
when he led you in the way?

18 Now why go to Egypt
to drink water from the Shihor [g] ?
And why go to Assyria
to drink water from the River [h] ?

19 Your wickedness will punish you;
your backsliding will rebuke you.
Consider then and realize
how evil and bitter it is for you
when you forsake the LORD your God
and have no awe of me,"
declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty.

20 "Long ago you broke off your yoke
and tore off your bonds;
you said, 'I will not serve you!'
Indeed, on every high hill
and under every spreading tree
you lay down as a prostitute.

21 I had planted you like a choice vine
of sound and reliable stock.
How then did you turn against me
into a corrupt, wild vine?

22 Although you wash yourself with soda
and use an abundance of soap,
the stain of your guilt is still before me,"
declares the Sovereign LORD.

23 "How can you say, 'I am not defiled;
I have not run after the Baals'?
See how you behaved in the valley;
consider what you have done.
You are a swift she-camel
running here and there,

24 a wild donkey accustomed to the desert,
sniffing the wind in her craving—
in her heat who can restrain her?
Any males that pursue her need not tire themselves;
at mating time they will find her.

25 Do not run until your feet are bare
and your throat is dry.
But you said, 'It's no use!
I love foreign gods,
and I must go after them.'

26 "As a thief is disgraced when he is caught,
so the house of Israel is disgraced—
they, their kings and their officials,
their priests and their prophets.

27 They say to wood, 'You are my father,'
and to stone, 'You gave me birth.'
They have turned their backs to me
and not their faces;
yet when they are in trouble, they say,
'Come and save us!'

28 Where then are the gods you made for yourselves?
Let them come if they can save you
when you are in trouble!
For you have as many gods
as you have towns, O Judah.

29 "Why do you bring charges against me?
You have all rebelled against me,"
declares the LORD.

30 "In vain I punished your people;
they did not respond to correction.
Your sword has devoured your prophets
like a ravening lion.

31 "You of this generation, consider the word of the LORD :
"Have I been a desert to Israel
or a land of great darkness?
Why do my people say, 'We are free to roam;
we will come to you no more'?

32 Does a maiden forget her jewelry,
a bride her wedding ornaments?
Yet my people have forgotten me,
days without number.

33 How skilled you are at pursuing love!
Even the worst of women can learn from your ways.

34 On your clothes men find
the lifeblood of the innocent poor,
though you did not catch them breaking in.
Yet in spite of all this

35 you say, 'I am innocent;
he is not angry with me.'
But I will pass judgment on you
because you say, 'I have not sinned.'

36 Why do you go about so much,
changing your ways?
You will be disappointed by Egypt
as you were by Assyria.

37 You will also leave that place
with your hands on your head,
for the LORD has rejected those you trust;
you will not be helped by them.

yes finally chinese o's are over! (: it was moderately easy, but well ._. if most people found it easy, then the score would be moderated down which is BAD >.<. dance resumes tmr T.T why do we still have lessons?! ._. this is sad. on the bright side, im gonna watch hsm3 again ^-^ so yea. and there's the evening of poetry thing! on friday ._. waste time!! @_@. at least there's alvona to make things more fun there ^-^ and we'd get caught for talking again ._. okaay not like the stuff above isnt random la huh. so i lost my voice cuz of the marshmallow (elijah reminded me) well not really lose voice. more like cannot talk, cuz the tongue ulcer (yes its crap) rendered me inaudible (more than usual) and incomprehensible. so i was a mute for a few days ._. 5 days la hor. and i went around gesturing *points points!* and writing notes like 'sorry i cant talk x.x' oh well. hahaha tuition was funny la, i told the teacher i couldnt talk then suddenly when vivienne came in and she started talking to me about some stuff, i suddenly said a loud 'why!' which alerted the teacher to the fact that i uh, wasnt completely mute ._. so well. and SPEAKING OF TUITION.

ahas! laser quest was super amusing, hahahas. okay but first im gonna talk about my amazingly short nap.

i wanted to nap from 5-7, and wake up and eat dinner and do stuff. but when i woke up, it was all DARK. O.o. i walked around in search of food :0 but there was no food ): i looked at the clock -3am- ^.-. zzz. i had slept for 10 hours and NO ONE WOKE ME UP FOR DINNER >:( boo. and i tried to wake my bro up to watch ratatouille but he was sleeping like the dead -.- so i went back to sleep. okay end of random nonsense hahahs.

prayer meeting! it was cool la, there were lots of people here today, praise God (: hahas i felt that we could have prayed more though, but there was a lack of time. ;x oh well. we prayed for the basic prayer needs, and special prayer needs for people who had requested. but before and slightly after that, ezra was teaching me how to do backwards roll! I got called up for the first word! I subsequently called up ivan and daiyan to help me (: Ivan and daiyan acted as animals while i was the ARK. LOL. Guess who? Quite obvious lol, its NOAH. Daiyan said that she was shocked when i suddenly did the very big action which was supposed to be me looking like an ark, but we were faster than the other team! ( elijah, who ALSO STOLE MY WATERGUN OUT OF MY BAG >:( ) Then got one more, ken ivan and marilyn i think, wanted to act out joshua, and did the walls of jericho thing, then we sit there stun o.O hahahhas. Damien super pro la he guessed alot (: Ken was telling us about how teletubbies werent shown ever again cuz tinkywinky suffocated in his suit, and he was, shocked that i knew that the "purple one" was called tinky winky hahahas.

HAHAS this game super funny la! Reuben knocked the scoop on kristin during the demo by accident >.< Tim super amusing lololol! He really went to wrap ivan up like a mummy, he couldnt even move his hands! When i get photos i shall post (: So the game is like, you have a mummy standing behind you on the cross on the ground, and you're supposed to shield your mummy while the other team splashes water on your mummy( depending on who wins the scissors paper stone game ) I was, against REUBEN. The scissors paper stone was quite long cuz we kept throwing stone for some reason lol. And i got wet shielding my mummy ;x hahhaas. Tim splashed the water at the mummy the other side through xinyan'x legs, it was a smart move(:

AND IN BETWEEN, i got water POURED on me by none other than KAIWEN. I was talking to, i think alena? Or reuben, either one. Then the water came down -.- I was like, "Oh!" then i turned back and saw KAIWEN's EVIL GRIN. >:D tsktsk! hahahhas it was super funny la! And tim was chasing after nat with the bucket of water and woosh! Nat GOT WET. Poor nat got bullied >.< And as quoted from tim, "nat pour on me first".

Ahahas. This game is VIOLENT lo, WHATEVER happened to the 1m away rule? It was seriously crazy hahas, and thanks to DAMIEN and SHUIN JIAN our defenders they didnt manage to score much cuz they kept hitting it back xD But seriously, using water bags -.- lol la! Oh and this was against REUBEN's TEAM. Lol! We were supposed to use a piece of plastic to tie urself with another person from ur team, which was candice in my case. The score was 2:1 and HA NOT THIS TIME REUBEN! (:< They did some sissy cheer o.O their group name is sissy for some reason huh o.O and we didnt get to do a cheer cuz no time and we didnt finish thinking ;x but their cheer very cute! xD I asked reuben how was the game christ related, and he said "love your neighbours", with which i was wondering how it DID relate, cuz it was like a mad dog fight out there. I did not get to "wonder" for much longer, cuz christine said "really?", and reuben gave the "obviously that was bullshit" grin hahahahas.

FIFTH MASS GAME
Dog and Bone With Tail Game.

Vanessa gave each of us a rafia string to be our tails, and basically the normal way of playing dog and bone! It was super amusing hahahhas NUTNUTS are the TAIL GROUP. Dont aim for the ball, aim for the TAIL. xD Each tail is 1 point, ball is 5 points. When daiyan went out, she took all the tails and didnt take the ball xD hahahhahas. But we got second this time! (:< But reuben got first, hahahas. Good game though (: The last round was like, stun lol. Elijah's and reuben's teams chionged out, grab ball, zao. Then my team and jethro's team were like, huh what happened that was so fast. NUTNUT11 was sitting on the ground waiting to take photos lololol xD and jethro's team no 11 i think. Yepp.

WATER GUNS SHOOTING EVERYWHERE. MY GUN WAS MISSING D:< TSK. Herman passed me a bottle of water to, hahas not to drink silly. I went to terence, and said "HELLO FRIEND!" and poured water on him >:) and lots of other people xD and we all got wet! Kaiwen came charging with a gun : o lol ^^; And tada! Alena, kristin and i had to stand in the sun to wait for the sun to dry us before we went to change.

After going back to church, we proceeded to the bubble tea shop! I wanted to get almond something, but i somehow ordered ivan's usual cuz i was concentrating too much on vanessa's order lol. Too many milk teas >.< And the whole group of us went to kaiwen's house to play taboo! ^-^ We split into 2 teams, on my team we had EZRA, GABRIEL and CANDY! And on the opposing team, KAIWEN, KRISTIN, MATTHEW, KEN! Alena words came out lol : o thongs, gstring, implants. Ezra's mind always, ALWAYS goes to the gutter. FLYS there even.

And THAT was the MILDEST. Kaiwen's mum was super nice! She baked us cheese waffles- thank you! (: They were super cute, heart shaped cheese waffles! (: And then i had to go home cuz apparently messages passed to my dad to pass to my mum didnt pass through for some reason -.^ And yes, have a safe trip KAIWEN and YUTING! (:

HOHO xD We played battleship! xD hahahahas it was super amusing lololol! Hazel Tan was HILARIOUS. Eh, hahas i shall blog about saturday since im free now (:

Yeah it was the SN Open House and i was doing chem o.O pH not so cool :X But oh well, i wanted to do QA. There was this group bisecting frogs and pig hearts and pig eyes o.O i have pics of that but i dont think its appropriate to put up here ^^; Oh but there was this group doing some marshmallow thing! :D For physics, they had to increase the pressure in the flask, causing the marshmallow to expand as there are pockets of air inside (hoho i dont take physics but its common sense yeah?) the marshmallow super cute hahahas approach me for the video! (: But i got photo here xD

STC 2008 Area 17
As some of you noe, I have just come back from the Sec 3 Survival Training camp. My batch is the first ever batch to have this camp, with different activities. The bad thing is, I missed church on sat... *sobs*.

Aniwaes, my sch joined up with Area 17 this year. Much better then last yr; Area 17 is much more slack than Area 5. It's almost a leisure camp, i just hated the water there. Bitter. Horrible. And I'll be drinking it again soon. Dang.

Didn't learn anything much, just helped out a lot, and tried out various activities. Done jetty jump already, and it was as shiok as a cup of coke in camp. The funny thing is, I met one cadet from Area 17, and he saes he's oso from Svc 2! How cool can that be? I'll try to meet up with him next week.

Long time never post liaox, so format is in paragraphs, like writing compo. Lalala....

The best thing that happened to me in the camp, is that I was the Best Male Camper. I got a monkey fist necklace ( CI made it last nite). So touched.....so happy..... hahax

Long time nvr post liaox, so many things have happened....

Firstly, I am happy to announce that my Mid-Yr is nearly over. Still have one more paper next tues. Maybe two. Still, its nearly over!

Most of my class kena detention from vlee.... cause their linear law fail..... crap. Lucky i pass.

I have been nominated as a Student Leader!! Woots. CCA Council, NPCC. I'll get to wear that collar pin soon then. Wow.

today shall be no maple day. xD aiya mainly cuz i want to reflect on what happened today. i was interviewed by deacon naomi and pastor james x_x came as a shock la ._. for deacon naomi. cuz like i thought it was lunch! o.O nvm i passed anw ^^ pnp prac was really good ahahs. im so glad we have wrapped everything up (: after pnp we had sharing. like the 4 of us. i think it was really good, as in, we were able to openly tell each other our secrets and share our honest opinions and views about things. accountability to each other. thats like really important. and lifting each other up. ^^ thats why sharing is good (: committing everything to God, and having people to support u. oh and today's baptism class about decision making and finding the will of God. i agree with the pastor saying that we should consult older people who are more mature before we make decisions (: we shouldnt make decisions impulsively. ter and samantha must jiayou for pnp this upcoming sunday k! :D the topic on whether we really know a person is still on my mind ..theres so many people i really want to get to know ._. and no1 on the list is ALVONA. i realised that we cant communicate any other way except face to face LOL. hahas xD not that i dont know alvona well, but i really hope that i can get to know her better (:

yay xD i talked on the phone with anan just now! <3 and aha now i have a thorough understanding of what grace and salvation is (:

what is grace- giving to someone who does not deserve it

what is salvation- Jesus is our salvation. He has saved us through his blood so that we may have eternal life and be cleansed of our sins.

Refer to some verse (confess by mouth, believe in heart, then will be saved.)

what it means to all men- giving and saving all regardless of who they are

how does it apply to us- it does not. Cuz its something that has already happened, something that is given to us. Application is learning something and implementing it to ur life, but u cannot apply grace and salvation, cuz it has already happened to u.

what does grace and salvation have to do with us- grace and salvation has everything to do with us, cuz it is given to no matter who we are, what we are. Not for who we are, not for what we have done, but we are saved by grace cuz God loves us. Grace is also mercy. God loves us, and gives us grace.

Why do we need grace and salvation- we don’t need it, cuz its already given to us, so we have to be thankful for our grace and salvation.
